Donation for Cancer Survivor Support Program
Generous Donation launches cancer survivor Support Program
January 2026 – Ridgewood, NJ
The Ridgewood YMCA, a vital community resource serving Northern New Jersey and Port Murray area, is proud to announce a generous gift from Paul and Becky Simpson, who have stepped forward as the founding sponsor of the Ridgewood YMCA’s Cancer Survivor Support Program, launching in spring 2026.
Ridgewood YMCA’s Cancer Survivor Support Program is designed to provide a compassionate and welcoming space for individuals and families navigating cancer, with a focus on rebuilding strength, nutritional education and fostering social connections with others who share similar experiences. This new program will expand on the Ridgewood Y’s thriving Chronic Disease Support Program, further strengthening its commitment to healthy living and social responsibility.
“Surviving cancer is about more than treatment, it’s about building strength, confidence, and connection” said The Simpsons “We believe the Ridgewood YMCA with its 124 years history of building spirit, mind and body for all is uniquely positioned to offer a program that supports the whole person and creates a community where cancer survivors feel understood, supported, and hopeful.”

We’re Here to Help: Expanded Food Assistance + SNAP Support
We're Here to Help Our Neighbors:
Expanded Food Assistance + SNAP Support from our Beyond Pantry
We know many in our community may be concerned about the federal government shutdown and the potential SNAP benefits freeze beginning November 1, and the Ridgewood YMCA is here to help.
In Need of Assistance?
Every Wednesday in November from 10 AM–2 PM, stop by the Ridgewood Y Beyond Pantry with your SNAP card and receive a bag of groceries—no application needed.
To help us prepare your bag, please use this link to reserve your groceries. If you’re working and unable to come during those hours, please email Megan Nayden at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to make other arrangements.
If you or someone you know is facing food insecurity, we’re here for you. Please reach out; no one should go without food.
Help Support our Community
During this month of giving thanks, we’d like to encourage member donations of shelf-stable, refrigerated, or frozen items. A full list of donatable items can be found here: Donation Items. Shelf-stable items can be dropped off on the shelves directly inside our front doors next to the elevator. Refrigerator and freezer items must be given directly to the front desk.
Together, we can make sure everyone in our community has enough to eat this season.
