Summer Day Camp

Welcome to the Ridgewood YMCA Summer Day Camps! We believe the values and skills learned early on are the building blocks for the future and we are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment for your camper. We are committed to helping children strengthen their abilities to set reasonable goals and encourage them to interact with their fellow campers in a respectful manner and to have FUN.

Y's kidz (ages 3-5)

Your child’s first camp experience is a special one! Our Y’s Kidz day camp has been specially designed with our youngest campers in mind to provide a safe environment for children to play, grow, learn new skills, and have plenty of new experiences and socialization with their peers. Days are filled with fun and stimulating activities, including swim lessons taught by the Y’s aquatic staff, games, theme days, art projects, special guests and visitors like exotic animals.


Note: Campers need to be fully potty-trained to attend camp.

CAMP PAMACKA (Ages 6-12)

Building confidence by accomplishing goals! Camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. Few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities. Our camps teach self-reliance and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership, amidst the fun of sports, art, games, outdoor adventure, water activities and meaningful relationships. Plus, our specialized instructors in STEM, arts and crafts, swim and sports are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.

CHAMPS BASKETBALL (Week 4, 7/15-7/19) 
Campers will have the opportunity to improve their skills through drills that focus on dribbling, shooting, passing, defense and teamwork. A great opportunity to keep your child active and learn how to be the next all-star!

CREATIVE ARTS (Week 5, 7/22-7/26) 
Unleash your creativity, energy and imagination! Campers discover their artistic side and let their imaginations soar as they explore a variety of projects that may include sketching, watercolors or paints, nature collages, charcoal, clay and much more. Campers will create masterpieces to take home and enjoy.

TINY CHEFS (Week 6, 7/29-8/2) SOLD OUT
Do you love the cooking channel shows, chefs and recipes? Then this program is for you! Learn to chop, mix and bake healthy meals and snacks to share with your family. Kids prepare their own lunches all week long.


COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (Ages 14-16)

Learn the skills necessary to become a successful camp counselor. This hands on Counselor in Training (CIT) program is intended to provide teens with the opportunity to learn the basic responsibilities of being a camp counselor in a supportive environment. Specialty workshops and team building exercises help build skills such as collaboration, effective teamwork, public speaking and understanding stages of youth development. Each CIT will be provided the chance to put their newly learned skills into action assisting with both Y's Kidz and Camp Pamacka. The full camp duration is recommended for the best CIT experience.

  • Mail or bring your completed registration form and deposit to Ridgewood YMCA Day Camps, 112 Oak Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450.
  • Fax your completed registration form to 201.493.0606.
  • Online by clicking the REGISTER link for your desired camp
  • Visit the Ridgewood YMCA Welcome Center

 


GENERAL PAYMENT INFORMATION

At time of registration, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required for each week of camp enrolled per child. 

Camp has is limited space and processed on a first come, first served basis.

Families registering for more than one child are entitled to a 10% discount on camp, may not be combined with "Camp More, Save More" deals.

All outstanding camp balances are due 2 weeks (10 business days) prior to your campers first camp date. Camper slots are subject to forfeiture if payment is not received by due date.

REFUNDS AND CANCELATION POLICY

All camp week deposits and program enrollment fees are non-refundable. A $25 processing fee will be charged for all refund requests. Cancellations submitted at least 2 weeks (10 business days) prior to your campers first camp date will receive a 50% refund (minus deposit, program enrollment fee, and refund processing fee). No refunds will be allowed within 2 weeks (10 business days) of the start of your camper’s session. If your child is absent from camp for medical reasons for five consecutive days, we will attempt to place your child in another camp week or will issue a credit to be used at the Ridgewood YMCA within two years. A physician’s note will be required. There will be no credits issued for vacations, incidental absences, transportation delays or dismissals from camp.

MEDICAL POLICY

All campers must submit completed medical form and immunization record (signed by a physician) prior to their first day of camp. Campers will not be able to attend camp is medical forms are not received. Medical forms may be found on our website at www.ridgewoodymca.org/camp, picked up in person at our Welcome Center or call 201.444.5600 ext. 500 to request forms in the mail.

YMCA CAMP STAFF

Our counselors complete at least 25 hours of YMCA training including child abuse prevention, risk management, youth development and more. Prior to hiring, all staff over the age of 18 undergo a thorough background check.

CAMP FOR ALL - SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Camp Scholarships are available based on camp capacity, demonstrated need and the YMCA’s ability to fund the assistance. To apply for a camp scholarship, please complete the Financial Assistance Application at the bottom of this page and return to Megan Heller at mheller@ridgewoodymca.org. All requests for camp scholarships are confidential. Completed camp scholarship applications must be submitted by April 5, 2019.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR

Every day, campers should bring a backpack with their name on it including:

  • Healthy lunch (meal and beverage)
  • Afternoon snack
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Sneakers
  • Swim suit and towel

Please label all of your child’s belongings. All left items will be donated at the end of summer, Ridgewood YMCA is not responsible for any lost or misplaced items.

DO NOT BRING

iPods, Nintendo DS, etc., The Y is not responsible if items are lost or stolen. These items can be a distraction to the agenda, activities and other campers. All left items will be donated at the end of summer, Ridgewood YMCA is not responsible for any lost or misplaced items.  

MEDICATIONS

Please note on your child’s medical form any special medication (prescription or non-prescription) that he/she needs.
