Ramon Hache Joins NJ Gov Elects Transition Policy Action Team

Ramon Hache Joins NJ Gov-Elect’s Action Team on Kids’ Mental Health & Online Safety

November 24, 2025

Congratulations to Ridgewood YMCA’s own Ramon Hache on being named to the Governor elect Mikie Sherrill’s Kids Mental Health and Online Safety Transition Policy Actions Team! This is an exciting opportunity for YMCAs and other nonprofits to have a meaningful seat at the table to help shape strategies that support children’s mental health, strengthen families, and promote safety while online.

We remain steadfast in our mission of youth development to ensure that young people have the opportunity to grow and thrive in a safe environment – both in person and online, and look forward to working with the Governor-elect to serve this mission.

We’re Here to Help: Expanded Food Assistance + SNAP Support

We're Here to Help Our Neighbors:
Expanded Food Assistance + SNAP Support from our Beyond Pantry

We know many in our community may be concerned about the federal government shutdown and the potential SNAP benefits freeze beginning November 1, and the Ridgewood YMCA is here to help.

In Need of Assistance?

Every Wednesday in November from 10 AM–2 PM, stop by the Ridgewood Y Beyond Pantry with your SNAP card and receive a bag of groceries—no application needed.

To help us prepare your bag, please use this link to reserve your groceries. If you’re working and unable to come during those hours, please email Megan Nayden at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to make other arrangements.

If you or someone you know is facing food insecurity, we’re here for you. Please reach out; no one should go without food.

Help Support our Community

During this month of giving thanks, we’d like to encourage member donations of shelf-stable, refrigerated, or frozen items. A full list of donatable items can be found here: Donation Items. Shelf-stable items can be dropped off on the shelves directly inside our front doors next to the elevator. Refrigerator and freezer items must be given directly to the front desk.

Together, we can make sure everyone in our community has enough to eat this season.

DEC 6 | Ridgewood Y Parkinson’s Program Presents: Christmas Retro-Pulse

THE RIDGEWOOD Y PARKINSON'S PROGRAM PRESENTS:

Christmas Retro-Pulse

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6
12:30-2:30PM
FREE

Join us for an inspiring and joy-filled holiday celebration with Christmas Retro-Pulse, a one-of-a-kind Christmas show presented by an extraordinary group of performers living with Parkinson’s.

This year’s theme, “walking backward, dancing forward,” draws creative inspiration from retropulsion: a Parkinson’s motor symptom that causes backward movement. As momentum increases, so does the risk of falling. But in our show, it becomes a powerful symbol of resilience, balance, and joy in motion.

Christmas Retro-Pulse celebrates music, movement, and community, showing that even when life pulls us back, we can still move forward with rhythm, laughter, and song.

Stay after the show for refreshments and holiday cheer!

RSVP is strongly encouraged, as our audience space WILL fill up. This is a family-friendly event.

A government-issued ID is required to enter the building for anyone 18+.

MEMBER NOTICE: Gingerbread Swim Meet Sun Nov 2

Sun Nov 2: Gingerbread Swim Meet

On Sunday, November 2, the Ridgewood Y will be hosting the Gingerbread Swim Meet, a large youth swim team competition. Here are a few things to be aware of around the facility over the weekend:

  • Parking lots and the surrounding street parking spaces will be very full. Please allow ample time to find a spot. Parking on a nearby side street or closer to downtown are alternative options.

  • Lap swim and family swim are canceled for Sunday. Regular sessions are still running on Saturday. Swim lessons are unaffected by the meet.

  • The gymnasium will be unavailable for open gym time on both Saturday and Sunday. It is used as a staging space for athletes during the meet, and needs to be set up beforehand. Youth programming will run as scheduled in the gymnasium on Saturday morning.

  • There will be extra foot traffic throughout the facility on Sunday as athletes and spectators move between spaces. The safety of our members and visiting athletes is a top priority, so there will be signage and volunteers helping to keep things moving and to assure safety for all.

Thank you for your cooperation! We’re looking forward to the event. Good luck to all the swimmers competing!
