STATUS: Non-Exempt (Part-Time)
PAYRATE: $30-35 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:
Massage Therapists at the Ridgewood Y will provide effective therapeutic massage/bodywork tailored to clients’ needs, promoting overall wellness. This role requires a self-starter committed to high customer service standards and adherence to Ridgewood Y’s established procedures and protocols.

JOB FUNCTION:

  • Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services offered.
  • Provide a high level of service with regards to members’ needs, concerns, and questions about the YMCA, its programs, and mission.
  • Perform massage therapy for members to help relieve stress, reduce aches/pains, and improve overall well-being.
  • Exhibit knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, myology, pathology, somatics, ethics, and various massage/bodywork modalities, applying them appropriately.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with clients/members.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of work areas in compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of receipts for services rendered on a weekly basis.
  • Uphold punctuality for all appointments and maintain records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain required licenses/certifications/continuing education hours.
  • Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings.
  • Support community and promotional special events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Additional vocational or college coursework in massage therapy is a plus).
  • Valid New Jersey State Massage Therapy License in good standing.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology as they relate to massage therapy.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience as a massage therapist, preferably in a wellness, healthcare, or fitness setting.
  • Proficiency in at least two to three different massage modalities, such as Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, trigger point therapy, therapeutic, or myofascial release.
  • Secondary specializations such as kinesio taping, hot stone therapy, fascial stretch therapy, etc. are a plus.
  • Interest and experience working with special populations
  • Current Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain before start date).
  • Experience working in a fitness or wellness center setting and collaborating with trainers, physical therapists, or other health professionals
  • Child Abuse Prevention online course is required no later than 60 days into employment.
