Mission
The Ridgewood YMCA offers programs and community connections that positively impact lives through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, building spirit, mind and body for all.
Vision
A healthy community where everyone belongs, connects, and feels valued.
Our Values
The Y’s four core values—caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility—shape everything we do and inspire us to serve all with compassion and integrity.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
The Y is made up of people of all ages, from all walks of life, working side-by-side to strengthen communities. Together, we strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender expression, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race, or sexual orientation has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity.
Critical Social Issues
There are many critical social issues and challenges facing Bergen and Passaic Counties, as well as the additional regions served by Oak Street and Camp Bernie. The Ridgewood Y helps address many of these issues in partnership with other organizations doing good work in our communities:
Health and Well-Being: Pathways to better health outcomes for community members of all ages to combat chronic disease and create greater mental well-being.
Youth Development: The need for youth to have development opportunities, positive role models, and healthy physical and social alternatives to screen time.
Support for Families: The need for reliable, quality, and affordable childcare options enabling families to work.
Water Safety: Preventing drowning incidents and ensuring all community members regardless of income or resources have access to life-saving water safety skills.
Adaptive Programming: Programming that aims to meet the adaptive needs of all groups, regardless of ability.
Food Security: Growing food insecurity of individuals and families.
Community Engagement: The need for safe, inclusive spaces and education and programming to combat social isolation, along with the need to foster meaningful human relationships across diverse and cultural demographic groups globally.
Financial Support: The need to fill critical gaps by providing financial assistance for access to programs.
Financial Aid
We believe the opportunity to gain personal growth from our programming should be accessible to everyone regardless of financial situation or socioeconomic status. Our Membership for All program ensures that nobody is turned away because of inability to pay.
