DIRECTOR OF COMPETITIVE SWIMMING

Full-Time position. The Ridgewood YMCA Breakers is a year-round age group and senior competitive swimming program of over 130 swimmers that encompasses all levels from developmental to national.  The Breakers have a tradition of excellence competing at the local, regional and national level within both the YMCA dual meet league organizations and USA Swimming.  The Breakers Swim Team is proud to provide youth with the opportunity to learn how to be the best swimmers they can be while learning the skills, self-reliance, and the physical conditioning for personal success.  With the support of a dedicated coaching team, this position provides supervision and direction to the team, as well as all administrative responsibilities.  

Skills and Experience: 

  • 4+ years’ experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach of a Y (preferred) or USA Swimming team. 
  • ASCA Level 2 certification or above strongly preferred 
  • Experience leading and mentoring Assistant Coaches 
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification 
  • Current YMCA Competitive Swimming and Diving certification (can be attained after hire) 
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred (can be attained after hire)

AQUATICS COORDINATOR

Seasonal, Full Time Hourly: $18/hr

Working under the supervision of the VP Of Aquatics and Strategic Partnerships to ensure a safe and positive environment for all YMCA members and guests. This position ensures that staff are able to work in a well-organized and productive environment, programs are running efficiently, and that our Aquatics departments continue to meet the needs of the community.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have HS diploma and previous teaching experience.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguarding required.
  • Within 6 months of hire: YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.

WATERFRONT HEAD LIFEGUARD

Seasonal, Full Time Hourly: $18/hr

Working under the supervision of the VP Of Aquatics and Strategic Partnerships to ensure a safe and positive environment for all patrons at the Waterfront Facility. This position ensures that staff are able to work in a well-organized and productive environment, receive high quality training to perform their roles at a high level, and coordinate with Parks and Recreation staff to create a positive and safe waterfront facility.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have HS diploma and previous teaching experience.
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lifeguarding and Waterfront Lifeguarding required (or able to attain before season begins).
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.

Seasonal, Full Time Hourly: $16-$17/hr

MEMBER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Part Time position (4:00PM-8:00PM).  Staff member at Ridgewood Y Welcome Center is responsible for meeting the needs of Y members, guests and program participants for the express purposes of making each visit to the Y a welcoming, inclusive and a positive experience. This position is the main point of contact for the entire membership base. Active work environment need ability to multitask while staying positive and upbeat.

SUMMER CAMP 2021 COUNSELORS

A Camp Counselor is expected to guide campers throughout the camping experience and assist them with daily camping activities and programs; ensure safety and well-being of campers; supervise campers and staff to ensure that camper and parent needs and expectations are met, and deliver on the overall camp experience strategy. Must be 16 years or older.

The Ridgewood Y is looking for lead and assistant teachers for our new Preschool program. Teachers must be an energetic, self-starter, self-motivated and mission-driven professional, to support day-to-day classroom functions, implementing curriculum, supervising children in our very first preschool program. LIFEGUARDS

Immediate opening for mornings, afternoons and evenings. Must have current CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguarding certification. Must be at least 16 years of age, but will consider a mature 15 year old with proper certifications. Salary negotiable. 

*LIFEGUARD TRAINING CLASS offered periodically by Ridgewood Y.

SWIM INSTRUCTORS

Openings for weekday afternoons and weekends. Must be at least 16 years of age with strong swimming skills and prior experience. Competitive salary.
