LEAD TEACHER – PRESCHOOL

The YMCA in Ridgewood, NJ is looking for a dedicated and creative Preschool Teacher to join our team!

Our Lead Teacher must be an energetic, self-starter who is a mission driven professional. Expect to oversee day-to-day classroom functions, implement curriculum, supervise children and work with assistant teachers.

Responsibilities include managing classroom functions, daily activities, scheduling, attendance, and cultivating a safe and fun preschool learning environment.

This person will ensure that all YMCA standards and state licensing requirements are met and/or exceeded as they relate to preschool aged children and to members of the community.

The lead teacher works under the general direction of the Preschool Director along with being a team player with fellow Preschool staff.

WATERFRONT HEAD LIFEGUARD & ASSISTANT HEAD LIFEGUARD

WATERFRONT LIFEGUARD

Working under the supervision of the VP of Youth Programming and Strategic Partnerships to ensure a safe and positive environment for all patrons at the Waterfront Facility. This position ensures that the patrons and programs running at the waterfront facility are kept safe and secure. Waterfront Lifeguards will have the primary responsibility of patron surveillance from appropriate lifeguard positions, enforce rules and respond to all emergencies within the park appropriately. Secondary responsibilities include daily trainings, swim tests, and maintaining swim docks in a safe and sanitary manner.

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR

Day Camp Counselors spend each day leading activities to guide kids in learning new skills and becoming better people. You’ll be responsible for the overall wellbeing of your group of campers and communicating with your Camp Director. Don’t have experience? All our training happens before camp starts and returning staff are ready to support each other. Counselors are expected to be kind, patient, creative, and outgoing while actively supervising groups. SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Behind our terrific counselors are supportive directors! Be the face of Camp Woods as the leader of one of our age groups: 3-5s, 6-7s, 8-10s and 11-14s. You’ll be responsible for supervising staff, communicating with parents, executing schedules, and being your groups overall point person. Directors are expected to make decisions using good judgement, be organized, address camper behavioral needs and collaborate with fellow staff! SUMMER CAMP HEALTH OFFICER

Ice packs and band aids and tweezers, OH MY! We are searching for an individual who is ready to respond to any situation, big or small, with a calm & clear mind. You’ll be responsible for maintaining health records, handling medications, and responding to radio calls from our counselors to treat any injuries. LIFEGUARDS

Immediate opening for mornings, afternoons and evenings.  Must have current CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguarding certification. Must be at least 16 years of age, but will consider a mature 15 year old with proper certifications. Salary negotiable.

VACATION CAMP STAFF

Are you new to the job world and want to work with children?  We’re looking for creative and attentive counselors during holiday breaks at the Ridgewood YMCA!  Vacation Camp counselors lead games, create crafts, and care for the children in our program.  You need to be ready to have a bunch of kids looking to you as a role model!  Flexible hours are available!

ADVANTAGE CARE SUPERVISOR – Camp Bernie

This position supports the work of YMCA Camp Bernie, a nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Under the overall direction of the Advantage Care Director, Site Supervisors will lead engaging academic, enrichment and recreation activities with students. Site Supervisors will provide opportunities for students to develop and strengthen academics, physical and social skills following the program curriculum. The Advantage Care program operates on weekdays from 7:00AM-6:00PM, in morning and afternoon shifts.

Under the overall direction of the Youth Development Director, Teachers will provide remote learning assistance and homework help to students in the Advantage Care program, and will lead engaging academic, enrichment and recreation activities with groups of students. Teachers will
provide opportunities for students to develop and strengthen academic, physical and social skills following the program curriculum. The Advantage Care program operates on weekdays from 7:00AM-6:00PM, in two shifts.
