THE Y’S PURPOSE IS TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES AND FUNDAMENTALLY, STRONG COMMUNITIES ARE EQUITABLE COMMUNITIES.

Our communities are intertwined and what happens here makes an impact in communities around the world. As an anti-racist, multicultural organization we are committed to advancing equity for all. And our commitment to equity calls on us to speak up for those whose voices aren’t being heard, whose calls for help are being ignored. We all have a role to play to achieve justice for all, especially those who experience the daily weight and worry of racial violence, discrimination, or bias in their community.

In order to achieve our mission of empowering all people to reach their fullest potential, the Y must become an anti-racist organization which is why we committed to educating ourselves, having hard conversations, reducing barriers and unleashing potential for all. We will work together to lead anti-racism work across the programs at the Y and lead difficult conversations about how to be anti-racist in ourselves and our communities.

“It always seems impossible until it's done.”

- Nelson Mandela
