 | Living Strong, Living Well is a free 12-week strength and fitness program designed especially for cancer patients and survivors who have recently become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment and/or disease. Developed by Stanford University, this innovative program helps participants build muscle mass and strength, increase flexibility and endurance, improve functional ability, reduce severity of therapy side effects, prevent unwanted weight changes and improve energy levels and self esteem.
Under the direction of Carol Livingstone, YMCA Health & Fitness Director who was trained by Stanford University, each participant receives personal and individualized instruction. The small group program meets twice a week and includes: progressive strength and cardio workouts in the YMCA Strength Training Facility, flexibility and stretching exercises, range of motion and balance exercises, and mind/body work.
